About Dr Alexa Wu Chavez

Dr. Alexa Wu Chavez’s passion for helping others led her to pursue a career in medicine from a young age. Her commitment to healthcare deepened when her grandmother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, which motivated her to support others facing similar challenges. After earning her medical degree in 2004, Dr. Wu Chavez completed her internship and social service at Hospital Metropolitano in San Germán, Puerto Rico. She went on to work in the emergency room at Rincón Medical Center before gaining diverse experience in physical therapy, hospice care, home care, and smoking cessation clinics in San Juan. In 2009, she joined a Radiation Therapy and Cancer Institute, where she spent ten years managing oncology patients and addressing their treatment side effects. Dr. Wu Chavez then relocated to Florida, where she dedicated six years to caring for the geriatric population at Island Doctors in East Palatka.

As a healthcare provider, Dr. Wu Chavez deeply values the relationships she builds with her patients, seeing these connections as essential to assessing their health needs and providing compassionate care. She believes these bonds allow her to offer personalized support that promotes the overall well-being of each individual. Outside of medicine, Dr. Wu Chavez enjoys traveling, cooking, and long car rides. She also has a profound love for animals, having rescued many during her time living in Puerto Rico.
